Every night, for a few hours, we close our eyes and enter the territory of the inexplicable. This non-fiction narration is based on true stories of people who lived terrifying experiences in the limbo of sleep, and saw figures and hallucinations burst into it.
The Pesanta is one of the creatures that inhabits La Casa Negra. This mythological entity, associated with sleep paralysis, visits homes at night and lies on the chest of sleeping people, oppressing breathing and causing suffocation.
The spectator, accompanied by the hypnotic voice-over of actress Laura Aubert, will take a journey through the different interpretations – psychology, sociology, history – that human beings have made of sleep paralysis. Caught between wakefulness and drowsiness, we are paralyzed and visited by strange creatures.
La Casa Negra is a 3Cat production in collaboration with Goroka.
