Jaleos is a documentary feature built from archival materials and personal accounts, demonstrating that flamenco has always been linked to the most modern and the most ancient at the same time, and to the popular realm in the broadest sense of the word. The film aims to bring the history of flamenco to audiences who may not necessarily be familiar with it. It relies on oral tradition and the transmission of artistic forms, featuring voices that contradict and complement one another through editing.
Each episode takes the form of an electric trip through time, moving between the 20th and 21st centuries. Every sequence is framed like a sketch centered around a key theme, but from that core, the narratives explode in collage form, moving dynamically and constantly striving to surprise the viewer.
Jaleos is also a journey through our collective sentimental memory, stories that resonate closely across generations. Through flamenco, we uncover a path through a part of our own life stories we never knew existed.
